If you've decided not to enroll in health benefits right now, you can formally waive coverage during your enrollment window. Here's what you need to know.
How to waive coverage
Log in to your OS Benefits dashboard during your Open Enrollment period
In the dashboard, scroll down to the Health Care Benefits section and select Enroll Now
Click on the No, I Decline Coverage button
Share your reason for declining (optional)
Click on Confirm Opt-Out button when ready
You will then see a confirmation screen saying that you have opted-out of coverage
If you don't see a waive option or are having trouble completing the step, reach out to us and we'll walk you through it.
What to know before you waive
You won't be able to re-enroll until the next open enrollment period — unless you experience a qualifying life event (QLE) such as losing other coverage, getting married, or having a baby.
Waiving is not the same as canceling. If you are currently enrolled and want to cancel, that's a different process — reach out to us directly.
Your employer may still offer other benefits — waiving health coverage doesn't automatically waive dental or vision. Check your dashboard to review all options.
Changed your mind?
If you waived coverage and something has changed — like losing coverage from another source — you may be eligible to enroll outside of open enrollment. Contact us as soon as possible so we can review your situation and determine your options. There are deadlines involved, so the sooner you reach out the better.
