How do I configure employee classifications during benefits setup?

Contribution classifications determine how employer benefit contributions are calculated per employee group. Here's how to choose and configure the right method for your team.

During the benefits setup wizard, you'll choose how employer contribution amounts are calculated for each employee. There are three methods — pick the one that best fits how your team is structured.

Option 1: By Employee Class

Contribution amounts are set per employment type — Executive, Full-Time Salaried, Full-Time Hourly, and Part-Time. You'll set a dollar amount per class when selecting your plans. This is the simplest option and works well for most teams.

Option 2: By Salary Band

Define salary ranges and set different contribution amounts per range. Up to 6 bands can be configured:

  • Enter a minimum and maximum annual salary for each band (e.g., $0 – $40,000, $40,001 – $70,000)

  • Click + Add Another Band to add more ranges

  • Employees must be assigned to a band after setup

Option 3: By Custom Group

Create named contribution groups (e.g., Management, Field Staff, Operations). Up to 10 groups can be defined:

  • Enter a name for each group

  • Click + Add a Group to add more

  • Employees must be assigned to a group after setup

Click Continue to save your classification method and move to the next step.
