When an employee leaves your team, you'll want to end their benefits coverage and make sure they receive the required continuation-of-coverage (COBRA) information. Here's how it works.
How to terminate an employee's benefits
To end coverage for an employee who has left your company, email [email protected] with:
The employee's full name
Their last day of employment
Our team will process the termination, confirm the coverage end date with you, and handle the carrier notifications.
What about COBRA?
When an employee loses coverage due to leaving their job, they may be eligible to continue their coverage temporarily through COBRA (or a state equivalent). As part of processing the termination, we'll make sure the required continuation-of-coverage notices are handled and can walk you through what your former employee should expect, including how they elect coverage and what it will cost them.
If a former employee reaches out to you with COBRA questions, feel free to point them to [email protected] — we're happy to help them directly.
When does coverage end?
Coverage end dates depend on your plan setup and the employee's termination date — we'll confirm the exact end date when we process the termination, so you can communicate it clearly to your departing team member.
