How do I waive or decline health coverage?

Don't need coverage right now? Here's how to waive or decline your health benefits — and how to change your selection if you've already enrolled.

Health coverage through OS BENEFiTS is optional — if you have coverage elsewhere or simply don't want to enroll right now, you can decline it in just a few clicks.

How to decline coverage

  1. Log in to your OSB Dashboard

  2. Go to the Benefits section and open your Open Enrollment (or renewal)

  3. On the start screen, you'll see two options: Begin Open Enrollment or No, I decline coverage

  4. Click No, I decline coverage and confirm

That's it — no premium will be deducted from your paycheck for the declined coverage.

What if I already submitted my enrollment?

If you've already confirmed your enrollment and want to remove a plan you selected — or decline coverage entirely — reach out to [email protected] as soon as possible. Changes are easiest to make before your coverage effective date.

What happens after I decline?

  • You won't have any premium deducted from your paycheck for the declined coverage

  • You'll need to wait until the next open enrollment to join — unless you have a qualifying life event (like losing other coverage, getting married, or having a baby), which opens a 30-day window to enroll

Not sure whether declining is the right call? We're happy to talk it through with you.
